Anne Packard
(b. 1933)

The contemporary painter Anne Packard often focuses on the rich imagery afforded by the shores, dunes and landscapes of coastal towns. With an advanced sense of color, she creates graceful scenes out of a series of bold shapes, and uses texture to increase a sense of mass in her work. The influence of early and mid-century American painters like Edward Hopper and Milton Avery is suggested by the stark, clearly defined shapes and cropped compositions.
